Kylie Jenner’s Sweet 16 looks like a Chuck E. Cheese party compared to a Quinceanera thrown by a Texas family that dropped more than 1.5 million bucks to score performances by Pitbull and Nick Jonas. Maya Henry has a very rich dad, personal injury lawyer Thomas J. Henry, something he made clear with a lavish Latina coming of age bash.
David Monn, the best of the best when it comes to party planning, was commissioned by the Henry family to organize their daughter’s bash. The New York-based planner spoke with mySA.com while his crew of 150 hurried about on Friday, getting last minute details in place. Monn said a 55,000-square-foot facility was constructed on the Six Flags Fiesta Texas lot to host the party, which featured all the pomp expected from the wealthy family as well as a few surprise cameo performances from Pitbull and Nick Jonas.
The party followed a metamorphosis and celebration of life theme, something the Henrys and Monn worked together to be reflected in every detail of the event.
The shindig featured things like 30-foot tall cherry blossom trees in full bloom to accentuate the springtime feel. “We wanted to create something that gives people the experience they have not had before,” Monn said. “That’s really what I’m hoping for.” He added that planning was a year-long process and full production took a month. Monn could not disclose how much was spent to bring Pitbull to San Antonio. “Let’s just say her quinceañera is a very blessed quinceañera,” he said.
